Barry M - Limited Edition Polishes A/W '19

*PR Sample*

Good evening! Hope you're all doing well. I've had a pretty exciting week but I can't say anything just yet eek! As promised in my last post, I've got some more new polishes from Barry M to share. This time I have four shiny new limited edition polishes from both Superdrug and Boots. Read on to find out more!

Barry M Limited Edition Polishes A/W 19

I'll start off with the Boots duo as they are the ones I swatched first. Weirdly that's how I usually order the polishes in blog posts! 'Carriage Awaits' is a pinky nude with gold shimmer. Just looking at it in the bottle I knew it wasn't going to be my sort of shade because I'm so pale...and I was right. While I don't think it actually looks horrendous on me, I don't think it looks amazing either! The formula was quite thin and I had a bit of cuticle flooding so just watch out for that if you buy it. It was also fairly sheer so my swatch shows three coats with topcoat.

The second Boots LE is 'Kingdom Come' and this is a bright pink with purple shimmer. This isn't really a shade I'd pick out myself but it's certainly grown on me the more I've looked at these photos! The formula was much nicer for this and it applied really well. It was quite sheer on the first coat but surprised me by building up very well with the second. Swatch shows two coats with topcoat.

Next up we have the limited edition duo from Superdrug! 'Cosmic Dust' is a white/silver almost metallic-looking polish with pink shimmer. I'm not going to lie...this is really not my thing at all. As I expected it was very sheer with a thin formula. Can't say I love it, or even like it to be honest. But hey, just because I don't like it doesn't mean there aren't hundreds of people who will! Swatch shows three coats with topcoat.

Last but not least we have 'Milky Way', a sheer black base with shifty green/purple shimmer. Again, this is another I wouldn't have chosen myself and is very similar to 'Cosmic Dust' (not in colour obviously). It is sheer so maybe it would be better as a topper over a creme polish? Maybe one day I'll try it but for now I've just swatched it by itself. Swatch shows three coats with topcoat.

Okay so as you may be able to tell, these polishes weren't a big hit for me. It sucks because I love Barry M and I'm so happy I get sent products but I guess you just can't like everything! As I said earlier though, I'm sure there's hundreds of people that will/do like them, they're just not my cup of tea. 'Kingdom Come' was the definite winner for me out of these four!

The Superdrug polishes are available here for £3.99. I assumed the Boots ones would also be out now but they're not on the website? They may be in-store but I can't go and look right now because the shops are closed haha! I'll try to find out and update this post asap!

  1. I was really underwhelmed by the special editions this year too! The pinky nude one is pretty, but not something I'd wear myself, the hot pink one is just too hot pink for me, the silver shimmer is almost nice, but then they chose a pink shimmer and I just don't like pink. The only one I almost liked was the last one, but I prefer my green tones to shift more yellow/orange rather than blue/purple/pink so again not quite right for me. I already have a green shimmer polish which isn't in a black base, but when applied on top of black gives a similar look, but more in the tone of green I like rather than a bluey toned one so it didn't seem worth trying to see if I liked it better in real life. Couldn't even find them online properly on the boots website when adding stuff to my Christmas list so I guess they must have only bothered putting them in stores.
In comparison I love pretty much everything from the Crystal Rock collection even the ones which are colours I would wear myself. You know like when you can appreciate the colour but just wouldn't wear it yourself but maybe can imagine someone it would look perfect for? Its like that with that collection. But these limited editions were kinda lacklustre.

  2. The jewel solid polishing measure is moderately basic. Rough cushions grind down the top surface of the solid. Next, precious stone installed rough cushions buff and polish the floor until it sparkles. find more info
